J1 Visa Health Insurance

J-1 visa currently in or planning to enter the United States (US) have a mandatory requirement by the US Department of State to have J1 Visa Health Insurance coverage with medical insurance benefits of at least $50,000 per accident or sickness, medical evacuation benefit of US $10,000, and repatriation of mortal remains in the amount of $7,500 in case of accidental death of J-visa holder during his/her saty in the USA.

J1 visa holders in the US and all J-2 dependents must carry mandatory US J1 Exchange Visitor Visa Insurance (medical/health coverage) during their stay in the United States. US Government regulations for the J1 Visa Health Insurance stipulate that the J-1 visa holder (form DS-2019 issued by the U.S. Department of State) should carry mandatory health insurance coverage per requirements of the US Department of State, failing which then the J-1 sponsor must terminate the J1 exchange visitor program and inform the US Department of State of the same. Coverage benefits include cover for medical expenses (pre-existing conditions may be covered), prescription drugs expenses, accident/sickness coverage, emergency medical evacuation and accidental death & dismemberment (ad&d) benefits.
